With the way things are today, it’s often very difficult to find any hope. Having an illness that affects your mood can certainly compound this feeling of hopelessness. I’ve never been able to memorize scripture, but I’ve always been drawn to certain ones over time and I’ve found that different verses speak to me depending on the struggle I am dealing with. I shared this list with a group of teenage girls this weekend where, for the first time as a speaker, I shared my story. The experience was powerful for me when the girls shared their amazing struggles, but it was encouraging for me to see them opening up and allowing themselves to be vulnerable. I thought I’d share here as well in the hopes one of these verses will speak to you at just the right moment, providing the comfort that can only come from God.

Be still and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10

Come to me all you who are weary and heavy burdened and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

In the same way I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born.
Isaiah 66:9

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. THen you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:11-13

DO not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the Lord your God, am with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9

Call to me in times of trouble. I will save you, and you will honor me.
Psalm 50:15

People, trust God all the time. Tell him all your problems because GOd is our protection.
Psalm 62:8
